Streets re-open after SE Portland standoff

Police request help from bureau's SERT, CNT and police air support unit

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) – Police have re-opened streets that were closed after officers activated the Crisis Negotiation Team, Special Emergency Reaction Team and Air Support Unit late Friday night.

The bureau reported that the woman may have been armed with a gun and was in mental health crisis.

In incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the 7600 block of Southeast 19th Avenue. Officers were able to contact the woman but requested additional assistance from the bureau’s SERT, CNT and police airplane.

There were a small number of evacuations, police said.

The woman was who in crisis was able to get the help she needed, police said.

The case remains under investigation by the bureau’s Behavioral Health Unit.
