PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) – A 20-year-old Tualatin man was died in a hospital hours after being shot at least once in the early hours of Saturday in North Portland.

Esteban “Steve” Del Cid was shot around 3 a.m. and police were called to the intersection of N. Vancouver and Ivy streets. Officers told KOIN 6 News they were told the victim and his friends were driving around in a Honda Accord looking for the Legacy Emanuel emergency room.

Officers eventually found the Accord on the hospital’s campus at N. Graham and Gantenbein Avenue. An ambulance then took Del Cid the remaining 1584 feet – about 1/3 of a mile – into the hospital.

Evidence showed the Accord had been hit by multiple shots, officials said.

Del Cid’s friends said they were looking for the ER but got lost and that’s when they called 911.

The shooting actually happened at NE Rodney and Cook, a few blocks from where Del Cid and his friends were found. The friends weren’t able to provide much information about the shooter, but said he appeared to be white, PPB Sgt. Pete Simpson said in a statement.

Simpson said, “at this point, the shooting does not appear to be gang-related.”

The investigation continues. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call 503.823.3333.
