SALEM, Ore. (KOIN 6) — The passing of Leonard Nimoy, best known as Mr. Spock in the original “Star Trek,” brought an outpouring of tributes from celebrities and friends.
But Oregon State Rep. Bill Post (R-Keizer) brought his tribute to the halls of the legislature.
After being recognized by Speaker Tina Kotek, Post rose from his seat and paid his tribute to the 83-year-old Nimoy.
“Today is a sad day in history. The greatest Republican in the history of the galaxy. He was a legal alien who believed in prosperity. Leonard Nimoy passed away,” said Post on the floor of the Oregon House. “So I want to say: (a Vulcan phrase), Spock.”
