MOUNT HOOD, Ore. (KOIN 6) — There is more snow in Dallas, Texas than at Government Camp.

Yet, there is still hope on the mountain for some kind of modified ski season as snow is moving into the area for the weekend.

At the 4000-foot level the hill is bare. Skiers have to go almost to the top before snow is sticking to the ground.

Ski resorts are making alternative plans for spring and summer activities, but they haven’t thrown in the towel on the winter ski season just yet. Historically, the snowpack builds until mid-April so there may still be some skiing and snowboarding.

At the summit area of Timberline there has been intermittent activity since just after Thanksgiving, with snow machines keeping a base for innertubes.

KOIN 6 News will have more information later in the day.
