PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A natural gas leak prompted evacuations of an entire block near Blue Moon Tavern in Northwest Portland late Friday morning, though natural gas crews quickly found the source and began repairs.

NW Natural Gas turned off the gas at 432 NW 21st around 10:30 a.m. The source was found and gas crews ventilated the area.

Residents in the area — there are two apartment buildings nearby — began getting back into their homes around noon, said a NW Natural spokesperson.

The cause of the leak, the spokesperson said, “was probably a third party.”

Police blocked off the area of Flanders to Hoyt and  19th to 22nd. Traffic was re-opened around noon.
