VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN 6) — On average, a vehicle breaks down once every three years and the repairs can be pricey. But a Vancouver garage can cut your bill in half.

My Auto Repair Center is also the country’s first of its kind membership-only garage.

Members pay $100 to join and another $50 every year, but that can cut the cost of repairs sometimes in half. Customer Brian Grant said he used to pay three times as much for an oil change at a different garage.

“I feel like I’m going to get honesty,” Grant said. “That’s huge for me when I’m bringing in my car when I don’t have a lot of mechanical knowledge.”

Other customers have reported the cost of a radiator decreasing from $485 to $328.

“Basically, we help people and treat them with respect and make a little money off a lot of cars,” owner Mike Miller said.

Miller also runs a non-profit repair center from the same space called Carpenter’s Garage. There are 10 bays and just as many certified technicians who fixed 2,100 vehicles last year.

“We proved that it worked, that people like a membership garage and they’re willing to be loyal if you give them good service,” Miller said, who’s considering expanding the garage soon.

He also wants to reinvest the garage’s profits and open six youth center’s in Clark County aimed at middle school and high school students on the weekends.
