MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A Jackson County judge has sentenced a man to at least 25 years in prison for the death of a former jewelry salesman.

The Mail Tribune reports that 43-year-old Othon Robert Campos pleaded guilty last fall to charges of murder, robbery and burglary.

Friends and family wept Friday as District Attorney Beth Heckert described how Campos and an alleged accomplice tied up 62-year-old Frank Damiano of Ashland before fatally stabbing him and fleeing with his jewelry.

The victim’s son, Adam Damiano, told Campos he forgives him with all his heart because that’s what his father would want him to do.
