PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Authorities on Tuesday identified the passenger killed in a gruesome crash near Clackamas as a 58-year-old man from Antioch, Calif.

Walter Cuenca and a 35-year-old Clackamas resident were traveling along SE Jennings near Jade Court around midnight Monday morning in a Maserati when the driver lost control of the sports car.

First responders found the vehicle turned upside-down and heavily mangled. Cuenca was pronounced dead on the scene, while the driver was pulled from the car and taken to a local hospital. No other vehicles were involved.

Deputies from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office quickly stated that alcohol and speed appeared to have played a role in the accident.

No charges have been filed against the driver, whose condition has not been given since the first hours following the crash, but an investigation is ongoing.
