MYRTLE CREEK, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A young father and his 7-month-old daughter were found dead in a car in Myrtle Creek in an apparent murder-suicide.
Around 10 p.m. Monday, a Myrtle Creek police officer tried to stop a car that was believed to be driven by a suicidal man. The car did not stop for about a half-mile before slowing down and stopping at the intersection of Division and North Myrtle Road, officials said.
When the officer approached, he found the driver, 19-year-old Shane Allen Bass, slumped over and unconscious. The officer then found a baby in the back seat.
Both Bass and the baby were dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
