Construction worker killed in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A construction worker was apparently killed after being hit by a beam, officials with PF&R said Tuesday.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m., an Axis Crane contractor died after a steel high beam collapsed and fell onto the cab of a piece of equipment being used in Portland, officials said.

The incident happened in the 300 block of NE 2nd Avenue.

Investigators are currently on the scene.
