PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Subarus continue to be the car of choice for thieves in the Portland area, specifically older Subarus.

They’re the car of choice because the Subarus between 1990 and 2000 are easy to steal.

Ursula Barton drove an older Subaru that was recently stolen. The local artist said she had a laptop in the car and little things — “my speakers, my grandmother’s sweater. Things that mean nothing to them but a lot to me.”

She also had a painting in her car that she just completed of the Tiliikum Crossing Bridge, and she’d like to get it back — along with all her other items plus her car.

Police are urging owners of older Subarus to keep their cars in a garage.
