PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — The Kansas-based church known for their anti-gay beliefs and protests at the funerals of soldiers plans to protest against the Trail Blazers on Saturday.

The Westboro Baptist Church plans to protest outside the Moda Center because the Blazers publicly announced their support of gay marriage more than a year ago.

In a news release, the church said, “The Portland Trail Blazers punched the Lord Jesus Christ in the face.”

They also plan to picket outside churches in Portland, Gresham, Boring and Salem. Fred Phelps, who led the Westboro Baptist Church, died in 2014.

The Blazers host Orlando on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
