BEAVERTON, Ore. (KOIN 6) — One person was seriously burned when a fire broke out in a converted garage in Beaverton late Thursday morning.

TVF&R crews quickly put out the fire on SW Meadowbrook Way just before noon, authorities said in a release. The fire began in part of a 2-car garage that had been turned into a bedroom, and smoke was pouring out when crews arrived.

Neighbors helped the injured person get out of the house, and an ambulance rushed the person to Legacy Emanuel.

Three other people escaped the house without injury, and a total of five people are being helped by the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
