SEASIDE, Ore. (KOIN 6) – The death of a “young child” is considered “suspicious,” according to police.
Very few details are being released about the case. Police have not released the child’s sex or exact age, or where the child was found. In a statement, police said they are “investigating the suspicious death of a young child after a 911 call was made at 5:24 a.m” Saturday.
An autopsy was conducted Sunday by the state medical examiner but results will not be released until Monday at the earliest, officials said.
Officials said other children in the home have been taken into protective custody of the Department of Human Services. They added there is no additional risk to members of the community.
The Clatsop County Major Crimes Team has been activated and is investigating.
No arrests have been made, police said.
