VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN 6) — A suspected child molester didn’t help his case Wednesday night when his pit bull got loose and bit a detective, according to a Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman.

Kim Kapp confirmed Thursday that Paul Paris’ dog bit the detective’s hand and was subsequently shot and killed.

Paris, 60, was arrested and made his first appearance in a Clark County courtroom. He is set to be arraigned on first-degree child molestation charges on Dec. 23.

A prosecutor said the detective’s hand was so badly bitten she has nerve damage and may require surgery.
