KEPR reports the children's mother arrived to find house in flames

GOLDENDALE, Wash. (AP with files from Yakima Herald-Republic and KEPR) – Police in the southern Washington community of Goldendale say a 34-year-old man and two young children have been found dead after a house fire.

The Klickitat County coroner’s office identified the victims as Thomas Blakely and his two children, 7-year-old Kyra Blakely and 5-year-old Thomas Blakely.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports that autopsies are scheduled. Police say flames had engulfed the house by the time the fire was called in about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The mother of the children arrived at the scene to find he house engulfed, KEPR reports.

Kyra and Thomas Blakely were students at Goldendale Primary School, where the Herald-Republic reports counselors were sent to work with the students.

“We’re like a family, anything that needs to be done we’ll pull together and we will do it,” resident Jenilee Perez told KEPR. “That’s how Goldendale is.”

A memorial is growing outside the home.
