Child hospitalized after being struck by vehicle

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A child was taken to a local hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Portland on Tuesday.

Damon Simmons with Portland Fire & Rescue confirmed that the accident occurred near West Burnside Street and NW 13th Avenue around 4 p.m.

The child, whose name, gender and age were not released, was transported to Dornbecher Children’s Hospital at Oregon Health & Science University, said Simmons.

According to Portland Police Sgt. Pete Simpson, the child’s injuries were non-life threatening and that the accident was not a hit-and-run.

No additional information was immediately available.

KOIN 6 News currently has a crew headed to the scene.
