PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — The man who bought property in Washington with Cylvia Hayes for a marijuana grow operation told the MailOnline it was her idea.
In an interview with the MailOnline, the 60-year-old Topinka provided his own account of their relationship.
The online story also features pictures of the couple on a trip to Siberia.
In a passage in the MailOnline story, Topinka said:
“‘For some reason Cylvia always gets herself on the crooked road. She’s sly. I can’t even tell you what I’ve sacrificed in my life for her.
“‘This guy’s [Kitzhaber] doing the same. Look at what a powerful couple they could be, think of that responsibility. You can’t abuse that but she did. How can you trust that person?’
Mr Topinka’s own history is far from unblemished. He has domestic violence convictions and has served time in jail, and has openly admitted to both.
But, he insisted, it was Cylvia who was in the driver’s seat when it came to the marijuana growing operation. He claimed he reluctantly went along with her plans after being won over by the woman whom he met at a fitness center in Kirkland, Washington.
He said: ‘That was all her. I didn’t want to be part of that at all but Cylvia had a plan.’
KOIN 6 News requested an interview with Cylvia Hayes about this. She declined in an email, and said: “I am taking some personal time to deal with recent issues and revelations and will not be scheduling any interviews or events.”
