NEW YORK (TMZ) — TMZ reports actor Stephen Collins, who played Reverend Eric Camden on “7th Heaven”, allegedly confessed to child sex abuse in a therapy session with his estranged wife Faye Grant in 2012.

A recording, allegedly from that therapy session, was obtained by the entertainment site and posted on their website here.

Collins did not know he was being recorded, TMZ said.

At the time the therapy session was recorded, Collins and Grant were going through a divorce, TMZ reports, and said Grant recorded the session without Collins’ knowledge.

TMZ said a New York Police Department official told the site they are in possession of the recording and are conducting a criminal investigation.

Collins “is in the middle of a nasty, prolonged divorce” with Grant, TMZ reports Grant’s lawyer told her it was legal to secretly record the conversation because in California, secretly recording conversations to gather evidence regarding a violent felony is legal.
