PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — One person was taken to an area hospital after being struck by an SUV that crashed through a store in Northeast Portland on Tuesday.

Portland firefighters responded to the Les Schwab Tire Center at 2140 NE Columbia for a motor vehicle crash around 4:15 p.m.

Crews arrived to find that an SUV had crashed into the building and that a customer who was reportedly sitting in the waiting room had been struck and injured.

The man was transported to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center and entered into the trauma system.

According to Portland Fire & Rescue, patients are entered into the trauma system when they have significant trauma related injuries or are involved in an incident that makes these injuries likely.

No additional information was immediately injured.
