EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — Everett police say an optometrist molested a 10-year-old girl during an examination, and detectives suspect there may be more victims.

Police spokesman Aaron Snell says 33-year-old John P. O’Brien, of Bellevue, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree child molestation on Tuesday and booked into Snohomish County Jail.

According to police, the girl’s father was present during an initial exam, which took place in August. But the optometrist called the girl back into his office and told the father to wait outside.

The girl told police that the optometrist then fondled her, took off her clothes and photographed her with his phone. The girl later told her mother.

Detectives questioned O’Brien last week, but didn’t have enough evidence to hold him. A few days later with a search warrant, investigators found pictures in O’Brien’s phone corroborating the girl’s account.
