PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A suspected drunken driver crashed into a United State Postal Service tractor trailer early Tuesday morning, shutting down the entire top deck of the Marquam Bridge.
Police said the crash was reported around 2:30 a.m. on the east side of the bridge.
Because there were so many officers and Oregon Department of Transportation crews on scene investigating, the decision was made to close the entire top deck.
All traffic was being diverted onto Interstate 405 before the bridge was re-opened a little after 5:30 a.m.
Police said the driver of an SUV is being investigated for driving under the influence of alcohol.
