LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A woman accused of embezzling about $25,000 from the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce was arrested last Friday.
Lake Oswego police said Lori Jo Lauber, 58, was working as the office manager for the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce at the time of the alleged embezzlement.
Other employees called the Lake Oswego Police in May to report that Lauber was suspected of embezzling from the organization.
A police investigation revealed evidence that led to warrants and her arrest on Sept. 5.
Lauber worked for the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce for eight years until she resigned in April.
Keith Dickerson with the Chamber said they are taking steps to ensure a similar incident does to occur.
“What we can do is we can continue to put checks and balances into our structural flow and our financial flow to minimize the rest of it happening again,” said Dickerson.
Lauber was lodged at the Clackamas County Jail and charged with aggravated theft in the first degree, two counts of theft in the first degree, three counts of theft in the second degree and six counts of fraudulent use of a credit card.
Her bail was set at $75,000.
