BALTIMORE (KOIN 6) — The Baltimore Ravens terminated the contract of running back Ray Rice Monday, hours after TMZ released new video of the Pro-Bowler punching his then-fiance.

The Ravens posted the news to Twitter Monday.

The NFL followed up by suspending Rice indefinitely.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell handed Rice a heavily criticized two-game suspension for punching Janay Palmer, now his wife, inside an Atlantic City casino elevator in February. Much of the controversy surrounded surveillance video showing Rice dragging an unconscious Palmer from the elevator.

The NFL has thus far been adamant the second video, posted by TMZ early Monday morning, was not made available to them prior to Monday.

Rice served the first game of his suspension Sunday. He has not yet commented on the release of the second video. His lawyer has declined to comment.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
