GRESHAM, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A 25-year-old man was shot in the street around 190th and Yamhill in Gresham just after noon and the shooter remains on the loose.

Gresham Police Officer Adam Baker told KOIN 6 News the man was found laying in the street when police arrived. The shooter, he said, ran through a nearby apartment complex.

Witnesses told police the shooter is a tall, thin black man, possibly in his 30s, with a shaved head and a light goatee. He was last seen wearing baggy jeans, a multi-colored horizontally striped shirt and possibly white shoes.

The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment of “at least one” gunshot wound, Baker said, adding he was conscious at the time. His injuries appear to not be life threatening.

“This is a high-density living area,” Baker said. Investigators are combing the scene for witnesses, and he said Portland sent some investigators and gang team members to help.

The investigation is continuing.

Alder, Hartley and Davis Elementary schools were locked-in because of the police activity for a short period of time.
