BORING, Ore. (KOIN 6) —A SWAT team helped the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office and Gresham police dismantle what they said was a chop shop in Boring.
The shop, in the 35000 block of SE Bell Maple Drive, housed multiple stolen vehicles, property and a snowmobile, said Clackamas County Sgt. Nate Thompson. He also said there were some safety concerns initially, but no one was hurt.
Among the vehicles was a 1957 Chevy, and all were being disassembled, authorities said. Gresham Detective John Rasmussen said a tow truck will be used to take away evidence.
Detectives said they also found a small illegal marijuana grow at the site.
Several people are being questioned, authorities said shortly before 1 p.m. The Oregon Deparment of Human Services was also called in because a child was found at the site.
Grant Jerome Lauer, 47, of Boring was taken into custody after execution of the search warrant. Lauer had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest, police said.
Other charges and suspect are still being investigated at this time.
The case began after police received an anonymous tip, police said.
