VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN 6) — A man’s body was found inside a Vancouver recycling center Wednesday night, police officials have confirmed.
The discovery was made by employees of West Van Materials Recovery Center around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. The body was on a sorting conveyor belt, according to police.
Vancouver police said Thursday the body was most likely transported in a load of recycling. The Vancouver Major Crime Unit is investigating the death.
Authorities later identified the body as 51-year-old Vancouver resident Craig A. Mays. The identification was made after conducting a fingerprint examination.
The Clark County Medical Examiner’s office said Mays’ death from multiple blunt force trauma was accidental. The exact way Mays died is unclear, but he likely died in one of the trucks that collects recycling.
