Hillsboro police said they were called to the Minter Bridge Square complex, 1821 SE Minter Bridge Road, around 11:40 a.m. They found the woman in what they said is an apparent homicide.

The woman’s age and name have not yet been released. Police said she was the only victim and that there were no signs of a burglary. Authorities would not say whether the woman lived in the apartment she was found.

While this apparent stabbing occurred just 10 miles from where Nicole Laube was found dead outside the Timber Creek Apartments on Aug. 19, authorities said they don’t believe the two are connected at this time.

Sgt. Eric Bunday with Hillsboro police said they don’t know who is behind the attack at the Minter Bridge Square complex.

“We don’t have a suspect at this time, so there is obviously concern that there is someone out there who has committed a homicide. So there is obviously that concern, but until we have a suspect, we don’t know who this is,” said Bunday.

The Hillsboro Police Department Investigations Division assumed lead investigative responsibility of the case with the assistance of the Washington County Major Crimes Team. The Oregon State Police Forensic Services Division responded to the scene in the early evening to assist.

Some neighbors who were returning home from work Friday evening said they were frightened and shocked to learn what happened.

“I’m surprised it happened because that doesn’t really happen around – not that close to where I live,” said Vivian Morales.
