PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Former Multnomah County Chairman Jeff Cogen is the new executive director for a Portland charter school.

Cogen begins Monday at KOREducators, 2044 E. Burnside, said Gary Berger with the Board of Directors.

“We feel fortunate to have been able to hire someone with Jeff’s experience and enthusiasm to contribute to our organization’s success,” Berger said.

Cogen will be the charter’s top administrator and will oversee the vice-principals in charge of curriculum and culture.

KOREducators describes their mission in three points: empowering individuals, enriching communities and shaping education.

Cogen officially left his position as county chair in September 2013. He had announced earlier he was stepping down after admitting to an affair with another county employee, Sonia Manhas.

She also left her position.
