SALEM, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Two people were taken to a hospital after multiple shots were fired in the parking lot of a Red Robin in Salem Wednesday night, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the incident happened just before 9 p.m. in a parking lot shared by numerous businesses, including Red Robin, in the 3600 block of Center Street NE. Officers were called to the lot on a reported disturbance, but prior to their arrival, police said an altercation took place and multiple shots were fired.

“I saw everybody like fleeing and then people dropping to the ground and hiding under cars and cars speeding off. It was crazy,” said Nichole Delano, a witness.

Two victims were taken to Salem Hospital, police said. Their conditions were unknown.

Detectives remained on scene as of 10:30 p.m., working with witnesses to determine what happened.
