Foster girl, 15, who ran away found safe

SALEM, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A 15-year-old girl, found living with her homeless mother and placed into a foster home on Aug. 12, has been found after she ran away.

Bethany Desanto was found in Minto Brown Island Park by a Salem police officer and taken into custody, then placed in a foster home in the north Salem area.

She fled the next day.

Around 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday, citizens contacted the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to say they spotted Desanto in the are of Portland Road NE and Hayesville Drive NE.

Desanto was taken into protective custody a short time after by Marion County Deputies and was immediately returned to the custody of the Department of Human Services.
