PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Three people were shot early Sunday morning in what police said may be a gang-related episode.

The shooting at SW 3rd and Ash in downtown Portland happened around 12:37 a.m., police said. Officers arrived to find 21-year-old Jaron Cuie, 37-year-old Damarvis Lee and 25-year-old Ricardo Savoy Hernandez injured.

Witnesses said there was a large group fighting before the shooting. It is unknown if this shooting is related to the homicide that occurred later in Southeast Portland.

A witness, Justin Brill, took this video of the scene following the shooting. FAIR WARNING: there is explicit language. Brill said he saw a silver Mercedes fleeing the scene.

One person was treated at the scene. Two other were taken to OHSU for treatment of their wounds. They are expected to recover.

PPB Sgt. Pete Simpson said preliminary information indicates the shooting is gang-related. Gang Enforcement Team officers and Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division are investigating.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information about the shooting is asked to call the Police Non-Emergency Line at (503) 823-3333.

As a result of the shooting at Southeast Portland’s Eastwood Apartments that took the life of 21-year-old Ervaeua Herring, as well as the shooting downtown, the Portland Police Bureau is stepping up gang enforcement patrols.
