PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Want to buy the Sellwood Bridge? It’s for sale.

The 88-year-old bridge is on the market because it is designated as a historic resource.

That designation means the bridge has to be available for someone to reuse before they move it out of the way for the new bridge.

However, a new owner would have to move the bridge privately.

Bids are accepted until September 12 to the Multnomah County officials. If no buyer steps up by that date, the contractor building the new Sellwood Bridge will likely sell it to a recycler.

The new Sellwood Bridge is set to open in fall 2015, and the whole project should be completed in 2016.
