STAYTON, Ore. (KOIN 6) — The man who eluded authorities for the better part of a week after walking away from an Oregon correctional facility is back behind bars — along with his female accomplice.

Jerry Texeira, 34, left the Mill Creek Correctional Facility Saturday, and was picked up by 24-year-old Lacey Evans, who drove him away. The pair were arrested late Tuesday night in Stayton, Ore., the Department of Corrections said.

Texeira had been in custody since October 2013, for drug, burglary and gun charges. His earliest release date was set for September 5, 2015.

Mill Creek Correctional Facility (MCCF) is a minimum-security prison located five miles southeast of Salem that houses approximately 280 inmates who are within four years of release. It primarily provides education and work opportunities for adults in custody.

Texeira’s escape is still under investigation, a DOC spokesperson said.
