VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN 6) — A fitness competition and fundraiser was held Saturday for Dustin Goudschaal, the Vancouver police officer shot seven times during a traffic stop.
Goudschaal, 32, was wounded June 30 when he was shot by white supremacist James Sapp after Sapp was pulled over for stolen license plates. Sapp, 48, killed himself less than a month later in a jail cell suicide.
His wife, Katie Goudschaal, said her husband is recovering, though it has been an up-and-down journey.
The event raised more than $2100 for the Goudschall family.
