Red flag warning also remains in effect through Tuesday

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory on Sunday, as forecasters expect the KOIN 6 viewing area to hit 100 degrees on Monday.

A heat advisory went into effect at noon on Sunday and is set to expire at 9 p.m. Monday.

Locations included in the advisory are Vancouver, Camas, Washougal, Longview, Kelso, Eugene, Corvallis, Albany, Vernonia, Salem, McMinnville, Sandy, Sweet Home, Hillsboro, Portland, Gresham, St. Helens, Toutle, Ariel, Cougar, Hood River, Odell and Cottage Grove.

With temperatures expected to peak at 100 degrees in some areas, the National Weather Service warns that such conditions may lead to heat stroke or dehydration, especially for the elderly or young children.

In addition to the heat advisory, a red flag warning remains in effect through Tuesday due to an increased chance for Thunderstorms.
