PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – Residents in the Eastern Oregon city of Umatilla have asked city officials to place on a moratorium on any new adult businesses.

The East Oregonian newspaper reports that interest in a moratorium heightened after a third strip club opened on Sixth Street.

Umatilla City Planner Bill Searles says a 120-day moratorium would stop new adult businesses from opening while the city researches long-term options.

Searles says the city can’t ban the businesses, but it would like to find a way to regulate them.
