PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — The MLS All Star Game is only a week away, and for the first time the Portland Timbers’ Providence Park will play host.
KOIN 6 News reporter Elishah Oesch headed out to “the pitch” Wednesday morning to see exactly what Portland soccer fans are in for.
The first thing Oesch learned: this is not just a one-day event. Pioneer Courthouse Square will be particularly busy, with an Adidas-sponsored kickoff party on Saturday featuring a Timbers vs. Galaxy viewing and a Tokyo Police Club follow-up.
Pioneer Square will also show the All Star Game, which takes place at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 6, free of charge. For those fortunate enough to make it to the game, however, will get a front row seat to the play of two Timbers all stars: Diego Valeri and Will Johnson.
