VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN 6) — More than 100 people were in line before New Vansterdam re-opened Friday after they received a new shipment of legal marijuana.

Many of the people in line are out-of-state tourists. One man in line was there after he watched a story on KOIN.com about New Vansterdam’s re-opening.

Many recreational pot stores in the state of Washington either closed or suffered shortages just weeks after they opened.

Demand has overwhelmed supply, which was not totally ready when the recreational pot stores opened July 8.

Though about 2500 applicants applied to become licensed growers, only about 100 gained approval. Since it takes more than two months to grow the plant, some growers are charging $6,000 per pound.

Another pot store in Vancouver, Main Street Marijuana, expects to re-open Monday.
