PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Tests for coliform in the Portland water supply came back negative Saturday morning, according to Portland Water Bureau officials.
One sample had tested positive for total coliform, but the sample did not show any E. coli. David Shaff, the head of the PWB, said one sample of the 18 taken on Thursday showed bacteria. There has never been a boil water notice in Portland if the first sample test negative for E. coli.
This happens about a dozen times a year, he said. The latest samples were collected upstream and downstream on Friday.
The bureau did not recommend that PWB customers boil their water or use bottled water.
