Oregon man, 71, killed in gunfight with officers ID’d

REEDSPORT, Ore. (KOIN 6) — The man killed during a shootout with law enforcement in Reedsport last week has been identified as 71-year-old Glenn Glancey.

Oregon State Police released additional information Thursday into the shooting, which occurred inside a mobile home park shortly after noon on July 17.

According to OSP, two Reedsport police officers and two Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the park over a reported “verbal and physical disturbance.” Glancey, armed with a handgun, confronted the officers, OSP said.

Gunfire was quickly exchanged between Glancey and the officers, according to OSP, which resulted in the 71-year-old being shot at least once.

He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, but succumbed to his injuries a few days later.

None of the law enforcement officers were shot. Both deputies and one of Reedsport officer are on paid administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
