Pedestrian hit by car, driver is on scene cooperating

WOODBURN, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A 36-year-old Beaverton woman died crossing Highway 211 between Woodburn and Molalla around 4:35 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities said two women were walking on the east side of Highway 211 near Rock Creek Bridge between Barlow and Needy roads and decided to cross to the other side.

One woman made it safely, but the second woman, Amanda Alice Hockett, was hit by a passing motorist. She died at the scene.

The 20-year-old driver, who was not hurt, stayed and is cooperating with authorities. Early indications are the driver was not at fault.

No names have been released at this time.
