PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — The Portland Police Bureau is asking for the community’s help in the search for a man who robbed a Plaid Pantry convenience store earlier this year.

Back in February, a man armed with a handgun robbed one of the chain’s Northeast Portland stores.

Surveillance images provided by the bureau Thursday shows a man approaching the counter bureau officials say was the gunman involved in the robbery.

Police say the suspect picked up some candy bars and had the clerk ring them up before pulling out a gun and demanding money. He then reached over the counter, grabbed an undisclosed amount of money and ran out of the store, according to police.

The clerk was not hurt.

The suspect, last seen running southbound on Northeast 60th Avenue, is described as a black man in his 40s, around 5 feet 8 inches tall and 190 pounds.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information, reported to Crime Stoppers, that leads to an arrest in this case, or any unsolved felony, and tipsters can remain anonymous.

In addition to any Crime Stoppers reward, Plaid Pantry is offering an additional reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction. To be eligible for this additional reward, tipsters cannot remain anonymous.

Leave a Crime Stoppers tip online, text CRIMES (274637) and in the subject line put 823HELP, followed by the tip, or call 503-823-HELP (4357) and leave the tip information.
