HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A bystander who performed CPR on a 6-year-old saved the child from nearly drowning at a Happy Valley apartment complex’s pool on Tuesday.
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said they were dispatched to a report of a 6-year-old drowning victim at the Greenleaf Monterey Apartments just after 6 p.m.
Upon arrival of American Medical Response and Clackamas Fire, crews said they found the girl conscious, alert and breathing in the apartment’s pool area.
Domiteala Galvez told authorities that she found the girl motionless at the bottom of the deep end of the pool. She removed her from the water and performed CPR until she regained consciousness.
Domiteala said she was trained in CPR and her training just took over.
The juvenile was at the pool with her cousins and had been properly supervised, police said.
She was transported by ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center.
Police said she was in good condition.
