ALOHA, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A man who climbed up a tree before falling about 40 feet in an effort to avoid his arrest is expected before a judge Monday.

Saturday afternoon, an Aloha homeowner called 911 to report an intruder inside his home.

Before Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies could arrive, the homeowner had been reportedly assaulted and the suspect had fled.

Deputies, with the help of a K9 police dog, found 46-year-old Bret Davis in a nearby tree. Davis refused to come down, according to police, making his way higher and higher until his fall.

Davis suffered only minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Davis, of Hillsboro, was arrested on burglary and assault charges.
