HILLSBORO, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A couple and their three dogs escaped an overnight house fire Thursday, the Hillsboro Fire Department has confirmed.
Firefighters responded to a NW 313th Avenue two-story home in North Plains around 12:45 a.m. as smoke billowed from the front door and windows.
Justin Sorensen, 32, told crews he and his wife noticed flames and evacuated immediately, calling 911 once they were safely outside.
The fire, which began on the first floor before spreading to the second story and inside the walls, was extinguished within a few hours. About 30 firefighters from Washington County, Hillsboro and Tualitin worked to put out the flames.
No one was hurt and no damage estimates have been given. Investigators are still looking into how the fire may have started.
