SALEM, Ore. (KOIN 6) — One man is dead and another is in custody following an altercation in Salem Thursday afternoon.
Salem police said they were called to 4704 Niles Avenue NE just before 4 p.m. Thursday on a report of suspicious circumstances. When officers arrived on scene, they found 58-year-old Larry Bush of Salem stabbed and dead at the scene.
Moments later, authorities detained Bush’s brother, 50-year-old Jon Bush at the scene.
Police said the investigation revealed that the brothers were involved in an altercation at the Salem residence at which time Jon Bush stabbed his brother.
Jon Bush was subsequently arrested and charged with murder and lodged in the Marion County Correctional Facility.
No further information was released about the nature of the altercation.
An autopsy will be scheduled to determine Larry Bush’s exact cause of death.
