WOODLAND, Wash. (KOIN 6) — Authorities recovered the body of an apparent drowning victim found submerged in the North Fork Lewis River Tuesday afternoon.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office and a Cowlitz Dive team responded to the river near Cottonwood Drive across from the Lewis River Golf Course around 4:15 p.m.

Authorities said the body was of a man who was found laying at the bottom of the river in about 8 to 10 feet of water. The man was not wearing a life jacket.

Police said a small fishing boat found unoccupied caught in some debris just upstream from the recovery site is associated with the victim.

The identity of the body was not released.
