PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — If you’ve bought something from the concession at a Thorns or Timbers game lately, you might want to check your bank statements.

The park’s management is now investigating a possible security breach.

More than half a dozen users of the online forum Reddit said their cards had been compromised at Providence Park in a thread entitled: “ Random question: did you go to a Timbers or Thorns game in May or earlier? Did your credit/debit card get compromised?”

As of Friday night, there were than 45 comments on the Portland Reddit post calling for people who suspect their debit or credit cards to have been compromised at Providence Park.

The full post reads:

“Been talking with a few people who’s card was fraudulently used and had to be canceled and reissued. There’s a lot of overlap in this town and fraud on cards is pretty common, but the common thread among the people I’ve talked to is we all went to Providence Park and used our card there. My card had fraud on May 31, someone else on May 29, etc. The games at PP in May were DC, LA, and Columbus as well as four Thorns games.

Anyone else see fraudulent activity on a card in late May or June?”

In a statement, the Timbers organization said despite confidence in their security system, they are looking into the matter.

“We are aware of the comments posted on Reddit and are looking into the matter,” the Timbers said in an online statement.

“Based on what we know now, there is full system security in place but we, and our food and beverage partner Centerplate, will be closely monitoring all credit and debit activity at events.”
