PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — To date, there have been more shootings this year in Portland than previous years, and officials expect that number to climb.

The latest shooting, investigators said, is gang-related. A vehicle was parked along SE 74th near Mt. Scott Park when bullets flew past it and into the park.

So far there have been 66 gang-related shootings in Portland, up from 47 in the same period last year. In the first 24 days of June, PPB sent out information on 12 separate shootings.

Police say these cases can be solved if the public helps. Witnesses should write down the vehicle and suspect descriptions, a license plate number and call 911 immediately.
